The Pirate Den Collection - Works from: 2000-2004

This series showcases a significant shift in style. In these works, I'm no longer just drawing and studying from observation, or in a formalist sense, composing art. Instead, I'm now imagining, dreaming and conjuring up an expanded metaphysical universe of my own. More free form, cerebral and poetic. The result is a series of very fantastical, fairy tale like images. Complete with allegorical and metaphorical flourishes. Reflective of the ongoing trials and tribulations of my life in the wilderness so to speak. Living on my own terms, far away overseas, fending for myself. Again, a lot of these works were created in a very ad-hoc manner as an emotional response to the world around me during a very testing period in my life.
